If you're much of an action fan, you've probably seen Speed innumerable times over the last near-30 years, but as this piece will confirm, there's still so much left to be uncovered.īy the end of this list, you should have a newfound appreciation for the mind-boggling effort that went into executing the high-octane action, while also delivering a satisfying story with memorable characters.Ībove all else, you'll never quite watch Speed the same way again, and mostly for the better. Yet the efficiency of its bomb-on-bus premise might fool some into believing that Speed is a mere surface-level film, where what you see is exactly what you get.īut that's far from the truth - Speed is awash in blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments which show how deceptively smart it truly is, both as a piece of storytelling and a work of stunning technical filmmaking. I give 1994's "Speed" a 9/10.With the firm directorial hand of cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Jan de Bont, a killer acting trio in Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper, and an all-timer concept, Speed really does have it all.

Although the movie isn't perfect it has some issues, these being "Keanu Reeves's" calm acting and some dialogue issues. If you are a person who enjoyed watching "The Matrix" or "Point Break" then I recommend you watch "Speed" as it has amazing music, terrific visuals, one of the most original exciting plots of the 1990's and is just an amazing action film.

The cinematographer "Jan de Bont" excels in doing something many others failed in, which is filming some of the most exciting scenes in a movie for example the bus-jumping scene. "Mark Mancina" exceeds in creating some of cinema's best soundtrack. "Sandra Bullock" truly gives a stunning performance as "Annie" and her relationship between her and "Payne" occasionally has its issues but nothing too bad. "Keanu Reeves's" acting is good as usual he gives a calm performance as apposed to an angry and exciting performance. The movie's climax which takes place on a train is amazing, it works because the movie is so unpredictable and anything can happen. The action-sequences on the bus are terrific they are both intense and exciting. Speed 2: Cruise Control is a 1997 American action thriller film produced and directed by Jan de Bont, and written by Randall McCormick and Jeff Nathanson. It is the sequel to Speed (1994) and stars Sandra Bullock (who reprises her role from the original), Jason Patric, and Willem Dafoe.

The scene is intense and shows how evil "Payne" is. The movie opens with the antagonist of the film "Howard Payne" portrayed by "Dennis Hopper" planting a bomb in a building. Prepare, then, to be impressed as Brisbane comedy troupe Act/React. The bomber gets away but has a new plan, which is to put a bomb on a bus if the bus goes over 50 miles per hour the bomb is detonated if the bus then goes under 50 miles per hour it will explode. Of all the films to get a stage revival, Speed was probably the least likely contender. The plot to "Speed" is that a young police officer named "Jack Traven" portrayed by "Keanu Reeves" who stops a maniac bomber from killing 20 people in an elevator. "Speed" is another one of "Keanu Reeves's" classic 1990's action movies. Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves), an LAPD cop on SWAT detail, has a fearless nature. Need for Speed is a 2014 action thriller film directed and co-edited by Scott Waugh and written by George and John Gatins. It is the film adaptation of the racing video game franchise of the same name by Electronic Arts. The film stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Scott Mescudi, Imogen Poots, Ramón Rodríguez, and Michael Keaton.
